Natural Deodorant

1. Propylene Glycol (Vegetable Derived): the gel base. More than half the formula. Carries the actives and gives the deodorant its glide.
2. Water (Aqua): part of the base.
3. Sodium Stearate: a plant-derived ingredient that sets the firm gel structure and lets it glide on evenly.
4. Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Root Powder: a natural starch that absorbs moisture and keeps underarms dry.
5. Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract: a botanical astringent that helps control odor.
6. Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract: works against the bacteria that turn sweat into smell.
7. Bambusa Arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Extract: helps absorb moisture and supports odor control.
8. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice: aloe vera. Soothes the skin and offsets the dryness deodorants can cause.
9. Bentonite (Volcanic Ash): absorbs moisture and odor. The same volcanic ash in our face cleanser.
10. Propanediol: derived from corn. A humectant that keeps the formula from drying out and helps the actives absorb.
11. Corn Starch (Modified): a natural starch that adds to the moisture-absorbing base.
12. Natural Fragrance: a light, clean scent.
13. Phenoxyethanol: a preservative. Prevents bacterial, mold, and yeast growth in the packaging.
14. Ethylhexylglycerin: a preservative booster. Increases the efficacy of the phenoxyethanol.

Roll a thin, even layer onto clean, dry underarms. Let it dry down before getting dressed. Use daily, morning or after showering. A little covers it, you don't need a thick layer.

Is this an antiperspirant? Will it stop me sweating?
No. It's a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. It neutralizes odor but doesn't block sweat. Sweating is normal; the smell is what this handles. If you want zero wetness, you want an aluminum antiperspirant, which this isn't.

Does it have aluminum or baking soda?
Neither. No aluminum, and no baking soda - which is the ingredient that irritates a lot of people in natural deodorants. This uses volcanic ash and arrowroot to absorb instead.

How does it work without aluminum?
Aluminum blocks sweat ducts. This doesn't do that. Instead, volcanic ash and arrowroot absorb moisture while sage, horsetail, and bamboo extracts work against the bacteria that turn sweat into odor. You still sweat; you just don't smell.

My skin's a little irritated after switching. What's going on?
If you're getting redness or itching, stop using it and let your skin settle. The likely cause is a sensitivity to the fragrance or one of the botanical extracts, not a "detox." Underarm skin doesn't detox. If you want to keep trying, give skin a few days to recover, then patch test on a small area first. If irritation comes back, it's a sensitivity and this isn't the right formula for you.

It's really burning or badly irritated. Is that normal?
No, that's not normal and you should stop using it. That's a sensitivity or allergy to one of the ingredients. Don't push through it - discontinue use, and if it doesn't clear up on its own, check with a doctor.
