Most aftershaves run two or three times the backlabel. The extra entries are alcohol, fillers, and botanical extracts that sound healthy. They pad the panel and irritate skin on the way through. You pay more for a longer list that works against you.

We're sold the rich, aerosol foam as proof a shave cream is working. It isn't. That foam is mostly air and propellant. It puffs up, but it doesn't cushion. The blade drags across skin with nothing real between them, and that's where the nicks, the razor burn, and the raw feeling come from.
